Grist Mill Park

Grist Mill Park The play dates are First and Third Wednesdays, 1:00 -3:00 P.M. Depends a lot on the weather. The editor goofed and thought that traveling across the county for violin lessons would be a snap. Apologize because I'm always late by about twenty minutes. We like to go and swing. Some of the parents arrive at different times. If we bundle up for the cold, the kids never notice what the weather is like. They are usually so happy to see friends and run around. Here is a map

Christmas crafts at Mount Vernon Unitarian Church Dec. 9

From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., This year the boxwood wreath and crafts and candy houses can have advance tickets purchased for a bit less or purchased at the door for a bit more. Lots of us like to attend this with our children. Volunteer to help if you like and we can be elbow deep in icing and gum drops. Here is a map to Mount Vernon Unitarian Church

4-H Big Christmas Party!

Inviting all our friends and the children who joined us last year to come to the Christmas Party on December 12. It's at Mount Vernon Unitarian Church at 10:00 on Tuesday. If you bring some cookies to share, we will have a Craft Table for snowflake making and Pop_Up Christmas cards. Please e-mail if you can make the party and we will have refreshments. We'll bring some Christmas music and and be entertained.

Since the fourth Tuesday is the day after Christmas, we will only have one meeting this month, on the second Tuesday. For info, write Lisa or Suzanne.

Start your Blobs growing please!

Yes, we're serious. Have you looked in your refrigerator or in your cabinets for unusual things. An orange that has fungus, or slime mold. It's time to start your experiment in growing something for the Fungus Fair. We're going to take a look with magnifying glasses, microscopes, and whatever to see the miniature world of slimy, gross, disgusting stuff. Is it medicine? Is it time for decomposition up close and personal. Yucky times await us after the New Year for some science in 4-H club. In the dead of winter we will look at what is crawling out of the refrigerator.

Plan between Christmas and New Years for something experimental.

Bagels and Books at Sherwood Library

The librarian works with the older teenagers and discusses books. She tells them what the choice of books is and they select a book they will read. Usually three books. My teens really love to talk about the books and it has encouraged them to read the books. They look forward to meeting with the librarian. Sherwood Library

On Monday, December 4th, we have this event. We want you all to come!

This Monday while the teens are talking about books, one of the mothers has arranged a visit from Usbourne books. These visual and informative books will be on display. The library doesn't want them to be bought there, but we can take some information home and if anyone wants to purchase you could question the representative. This is in the nature of curriculum exploration. In 4-H, we used a costume book from Usbourne that was so good. Easy to see how to put it together without sewing. My boys like the jet fighter book, and they love the insets and pictures. This activity will be ongoing from 10-1:00. If you are interested stop by and look for us in the room in the corner.

The younger children usually are in the children's section piling up books. Mine asked if a mother could read a story. Sometimes another librarian will read to them.
