Grist Mill Park

First and Third Wednesday Beautiful fall days with the leaves falling and the sun glistening in the trees. Come and swing and play on the newly resurfaced playground that kept us off the grounds during the month of October. We apologize to new friends who looked for us there and didn't see anybody except the heavy construction trucks and workers. Come back during November. We are all out enjoying the sunshine. Here is a map.

4-H

Turkey hunt We marched during the Vienna Halloween Parade as a group to show the home-made costumes. It was a fun event and we got a big round of applause for the costumes. During November we will meet at Lisa's place to bake bread. Well, first we learn to make bread, roll it up and knead it and let it rise. Each child will make a loaf and take it home to bake later. We may bake some there and eat it up. Please let us know who is coming and we will e-mail directions to Lisa's house. The church has another event and we not meet there on Nov. 14. The meeting after Thanksgiving is canceled since some of us are planning visits. One meeting this month. Contact Lisa.

Other Ideas

Thanksgiving fun
  • Ft. Belvoir has a seven mile trail past beaver lodges and we are going to explore that. It's close to Accotink. More info when we can explore the trial.
  • Kennedy Center tickets may be offered on days that events are scheduled. Since sometimes people can't make events, you may be able to pick up tickets. The performances are educational, spirited and exciting. Perfect time for a visit to places nearby.
  • River Farm along G.W. Parkway has gardens in the last days of fall. We will be there this month to watch the Potomac. See the planes come down the river and watch goldfish in the garden pond.
